Alvarez Transplant Center, Joe R. & Teresa Lozano Long School of
Medicine at UT Health San Antonio is seeking a qualified individual
for the full-time position of Specialist Faculty (Physician
Assistant or Nurse Practitioner) to provide general medical patient
care in our pulmonary lung transplant program. This Advanced
Practice Provider will become an integral part of the team
supporting the transplant program's inpatient and outpatient
practices. The patient population would include complex diseases
and disorders of the pulmonary system and lung transplant in a
fast-paced setting. Candidates should have excellent clinical,
decision-making, organizational and motivational skills; and should
have a commitment to academic and clinical excellence. Involvement
in quality improvement projects, research projects, and CME
conference attendance will be strongly encouraged and highly
supported. The APP will perform assessments of pre and
post-transplant patients, ensure the implementation of program
guidelines and protocols, and monitor patient results in different
care settings and between visits. The daily duties will include
rotations in both inpatient and ambulatory care settings,
interacting with consulting services, care and discharge planning,
monitoring disposition of discharged patients, and participating in
selection committee and multidisciplinary rounds.The ideal
candidate will have strong communication skills and work well in a
team and academic environment. The schedule for this job will be
Monday-Friday with occasional phone calls on evenings or nights
from the referring community. New graduates are welcome to apply.
Must have Prescriptive authority or eligible to apply for licensure
to prescribe from the State Medical Board within the first 6 months
of hiring. Must also have Basic Life Support (BLS) Healthcare
Provider and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certifications.UT

accrued per month which can be used for illness or injury after one
