Military Veterans are Encouraged to Apply. -Join us for this incredible opportunity to be part of our team as an Equine Specialist at Miraval Austin Resort and Spa located in Austin, Texas. This is a part time role, with potential to be full time. As Equine Specialist you will be leading programs that use the energy of horses to build transformational experiences for guests. Most of the programs are non-mounted experiences that are accessible for all guests - those interacting with horses for the first time to experienced equestrians. This role teaches classes, semi-private and private sessions and guests traveling in groups.     Qualifications:

    • Lead engaging and authentic lectures, classes and workshops for leisure guests and groups in varying class sizes
    • Perform all tasks and services in compliance with policies, procedures, work instructions, training, codes of conduct, brand standards, recognized best practices, safety laws and regulations
    • Takes initiative and is adaptable to any needs that may arise for area, department or resort
    • CPR/First Aid Certified/Wilderness First Aid preferred or ability to become certified within 30 days of start date
    • Ability to lift 50 pounds or more
    • Ability to catch horse in pasture efficiently
    • Ability to saddle/bridle horse independently
    • Ability to remove saddle independently
    • Able to work weekends and holidays required
    • Valid driver's license required
      EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
      • A strong background in psychology or social work
      • Experience working around horses is a must and extensive background in engaged ethical work with horses, preferred
      • Strong experiential based facilitation
      • Adept computer skills, including Excel, Word and Windows
      • Ability to provide certificate of completion of equine related continuing education
        LANGUAGE SKILLS

        Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to read and interpret retail product labeling. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or associates of organization.

        REASONING ABILITY

        Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

        PHYSICAL DEMANDS

        While performing the duties of this job, the facilitator is regularly required to stand and use hands to handle, or feel. The majority of the work is done outside, so the facilitator must be able to work in all kinds of weather conditions including extreme heat, cold, wind, and dust. The facilitator frequently is required to reach with hands and arms and talk or hear. The facilitator is also required to sit; walk; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The facilitator must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, and ability to adjust focus.
